A New Arrival!

You know, sometimes when we're coming down to the wire with a show and the tension is high, I think to myself, 'perhaps this is the frustration of those poor pregnant women whose babies are like three weeks overdue, and they just want to get them the heck out already. In the interest of full disclosure, I would know absolutely nothing about the reality of this particular analogy, but I feel that putting up a show is like trying to breathe life into another entity. With any luck, you do it right and the show stands up on its feet and does a little dance. I feel this way about the Diana Story. All this week I just couldn't wait for it to stand up in front of an audience and live on its own and be appreciated for what it is. Not to mention my job as costume design would then be over and I could focus completely on being a cast member. I do enjoy the marvelous efficiency of multi-tasking, but sometimes you can over-multi-task. This is what I have discovered. But now 'It Lives!' and we can all stand back like proud parents and watch this wonderful show take its first steps. I want to take this mushy moment to thank my fellow Samurai for being so dang cool - Matt, Nate, Emily, and Aaron. And the cast rocks hardcore tasty vittles as well. And a special thanks to Helene Turnbull, the playwright, for trusting us with her baby to begin with. Hopefully we haven't dropped it on its head.
